What is an ore?
- Pure metal found as nuggets in the ground
- Waste slag tapped from the bottom of a furnace
- Rock containing enough metal to be worth extracting
Show the answer
Rock containing enough metal to be worth extracting
Most metals are found combined with other elements in ores. Iron comes from ores such as haematite, aluminium from bauxite. Ores must be processed to release the metal.
