Who we are
Ceist Eile is run in Ireland by James Mooney (“we”). For anything about your data, email james.mooney@ceisteile.com.
Browsing this website
- No cookies. This website doesn't set any, so there is no cookie banner.
- No tracking or advertising. There are no ads, no analytics that follow you, and no social media buttons.
- Nothing from other companies. Pages, fonts and images all come from ceisteile.com itself.
- The questions on this website stay on your device. Your answers are marked in your own browser and never sent to us.
Hosting
The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which delivers the pages and protects the site from attacks. Like any web host, Cloudflare handles the technical details every visit involves, such as your IP address and browser type, and may keep them briefly in its logs for security. We don't use them to identify anyone. Cloudflare may process this outside the EU under the EU’s approved safeguards; see Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
If you email us
The “Email us” links open your own email app. If you send the email, we get your email address and whatever you write. We use them only to reply to you. We don't add you to any mailing list and we never share or sell your address.
Our email is handled by Zoho Mail in its EU data centre. We keep your email until we've replied, and delete it sooner if you ask.
Using the app needs an account
The app can only be used with an account; there is no guest mode. The sample questions on this website need no account (see “Browsing this website” above).
If you create an account
We keep:
- your email address, and your Apple or Google account ID if you sign in that way (Apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real email);
- your study data: subjects, levels, exam year, answers and marks, flash-card and game results, points target and settings you choose;
- if you use them: friends you add by invite code, and the parent report you choose to share.
We use this only to run the app for you: to save your progress, show your weak spots and sync between devices. The legal basis is providing the service you asked for (contract).
Emails
We send sign-in emails and one welcome email. We don't send marketing emails, and we never sell or share your email address.
What we don't do
No advertising, no ad tracking, no selling or renting of data, and no profiling for anyone else.
Who processes it for us
- Supabase: our database and sign-in provider.
- Zoho Mail (EU): sends our emails.
- Apple and Google: only if you choose to sign in with them.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website.
How long we keep it
Until you delete your account. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time from the “You” tab in the app.
Young people
Ceist Eile is made for Leaving Cert students. In Ireland you can agree to this yourself from age 16; if you are younger, please ask a parent or guardian before creating an account.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email james.mooney@ceisteile.com. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
