Heat flows between two bodies in contact. In which direction?
- From the colder body to the hotter body
- From the larger body to the smaller body
- From the hotter body to the colder body
Show the answer
From the hotter body to the colder body
Temperature decides the direction of heat flow. Heat flows from high to low temperature until both are the same.

Convert 373 K to degrees Celsius.
- 373 °C
- 100 °C
- 646 °C
Show the answer
100 °C
θ in °C = T in K − 273, so 373 − 273 = 100 °C, the boiling point of water. 646 comes from adding 273 instead.

What is a thermometric property?
- A physical property that changes measurably with temperature
- The temperature at which a liquid boils at normal pressure
- The amount of heat energy stored in a body
Show the answer
A physical property that changes measurably with temperature
Examples: the length of a liquid column, the resistance of a thermistor, the emf of a thermocouple. Every thermometer uses one.
