What is diffusion?
- The change of a liquid into a gas as its particles escape from the surface of the liquid
- The squashing of a gas into a smaller volume, so its particles are pushed closer together
- The spreading out of particles from where they are more concentrated to where they are less concentrated
Show the answer
The spreading out of particles from where they are more concentrated to where they are less concentrated
A smell spreading across a room, or ink slowly colouring still water, are examples. It happens because the particles are always moving.
