An advantage of MDF over solid wood for a model's base?

  1. It is waterproof without a finish
  2. It is stronger than hardwood
  3. It is flat and smooth with no knots
Show the answer

It is flat and smooth with no knots

MDF comes in large, stable sheets with an even surface and no grain or knots, so it is easy to cut and paint. It soaks up water and is weaker than a good hardwood.
