When colouring with pencils, how should you build up tone?
- Heavy pressure from the start
- Scribble, then rub it smooth
- Light layers, darker where needed

Light layers, darker where needed
Start light and build up layers: colour is easy to add but hard to remove. Keep strokes in one direction for an even, smooth finish.
