A product is designed so worn parts can be easily replaced. Why is this more sustainable?
- It uses more timber, so more trees are planted
- It can be thrown out sooner and replaced
- It lasts longer, so less ends up in landfill
Show the answer
It lasts longer, so less ends up in landfill
Designing for repair, reuse and taking apart means fewer new materials and less energy are needed and less waste is dumped. Joining parts with screws or KD fittings, not glue, helps.
