In first-angle projection, where is the plan drawn?
- Directly above the front elevation
- Anywhere, as long as it is labelled
- Directly below the front elevation
Show the answer
Directly below the front elevation
In first-angle projection the plan goes under the elevation and the end view beside it, all lined up so sizes can be projected between the views. Third-angle puts the plan above.

A drawing is marked Scale 1:2. What does this mean?
- Only half of the object is drawn
- The drawing is half the real size
- The drawing is twice the real size
Show the answer
The drawing is half the real size
At 1:2, 1 mm on the drawing stands for 2 mm on the real object, so the drawing is half size. 1:1 is full size and 2:1 is twice full size. Dimensions always give real sizes.
