Find the area of a rectangle 8 cm long and 5 cm wide.

Area of a rectangle = length × width = 8 × 5 = 40 cm². 26 is the perimeter, the distance all the way around the edge.

A circle has radius 5 cm. Using π = 3.14, find its area.

Area = πr² = 3.14 × 5 × 5 = 3.14 × 25 = 78.5 cm². 31.4 is the circumference (2πr), which is a length, not an area.

Find the perimeter of a rectangle 9 m long and 4 m wide.

Perimeter = all four sides added: 9 + 4 + 9 + 4 = 26 m. 36 would be the area in m², and 13 counts only two sides.
