What does the 9 V printed on a battery tell you?

  1. How much current it stores
  2. How many hours it will last before going flat
  3. How hard it pushes current round a circuit
Show the answer

How hard it pushes current round a circuit

Voltage, measured in volts (V), is the electrical push that drives current round a circuit. Current, in amps (A), is the flow. How long a battery lasts depends on its capacity.

Two identical bulbs are wired in parallel to a battery. What happens if one bulb blows?

  1. The other bulb gets dimmer
  2. The other bulb stays lit
  3. Both bulbs go out
Show the answer

The other bulb stays lit

In parallel, each bulb has its own path to the battery, so one failing does not break the other's circuit. In series there is only one path, so both would go out.
